The children’s story of a tooth fairy has long been a fascinating imagery for me. In my mind, it always had to be a woman, who slipped in at night to gather up teeth from under the pillow of the child who had lost them and replace them with dime for each tooth.
Here I carved her as walking through the garden, damp with morning dew, holding a freshly collected tooth. Sensuous in her beauty, silent in her movements, she blends into the leaves of the garden around her becoming invisible to all who would try to observe her. The foliage around her feet, is repeated in her hair further camouflaging her from prying eyes.
